My husband's the greatest
I was shocked and surprised when my husband handed me an iPod Nano last week. "It's yours." What!!??
I had told him and told him I had no desire at ALL for an iPod. Not that I'm trying to go against the flow, it's just that I didn't think I'd use it all that much. When I go on walks, I talk to Gardner. When I'm at the gym, I borrow Ken's or plug into the televisions above the treadmills. I don't listen to much in the car since I'm always in and out, in and out. I figured it'd be a waste.
But I have come to realize that having one is quite nice....and if you are blessed enough to receive one, you'll FIND opportunities to use it.
I have been introduced to the wide and wonderful world of Podcasts, and I am hooked. A fanatic of everything cultural, I have scoured the lists and found one worthy of my listening...."Josh in Japan." It's a show put on by an American guy who lives in Japan, and it answers all kinds of questions about everyday life in Japan. While others might shun this as boring and not relative, I, on the other hand, lap it up like water on a 200-degree summer day. I can't get enough of the knowledge tidbits about the country I want to visit so badly.
Ken has always been the best at getting me gifts which fuel my desires, my passions, my serious interests. This is evident by the journals and writing prompt books he's bought me to encourage my writing. This new gift fits into this mold, too, in that he knows my thirst for knowledge about other cultures and countries, and what better way to find out than to hear it straight from the mouths of the actual inhabitants? I feel the same excitement about getting in touch with the world as I did when my parents bought me my shortwave radio for Christmas in 1992. I didn't sleep at all last night....I listened to words in other languages I couldn't understand without stopping....just because I could.
Thank you, Ken, for your unending shower of inspirational tools for my hobbies and loves. You never cease to amaze me.
