Random act of kindness

Our next door neighbor (who helped me graciously during my mini-crisis yesterday morning) came over last night and surprised us with a homemade blueberry crumble-topped pie and a half-gallon of Edy's vanilla ice cream.

Still warm from the oven and delicious, it was....but even more warming was the fact that there are still people out there who hospitably welcome you into the new neighborhood, genuinely and with all smiles.

Just a little smidgen that added to my cup of faith in mankind yesterday.

Makes me want to do the same for someone today.

Gaining inspiriation

I am a person who, well, dwells on the past quite frequently. I mean, I should've been a historian because I revel in history so frequently. I guess you could call me a "history buff," too, of sorts, though I do not collect Confederate swords or wax stamps from the Victorian era. Nor can I spout out verbally every turning point of the battles of our country's wars. I do admire those who are able to do such things, however, one of which being Dad. Ouch

So I tried one of Billy Blank's special series yesterday, called "Focus on Abs and Glutes." Today I'm having trouble sitting AND breathing. :0) I mean, I knew I was not as in muscular shape as I was before being pregnant, but I had no idea. I had no idea such muscles existed on the sides of my legs....nor did I realize that my obliques wrapped around my middle quite that far. Wow. I think I will hold off on the crunches today and just stick to a powerwalk outside. I don't think my muscle fibers will stand up to more so soon. Billy Blanks is quite a motivator. Though it appears as if he never once took a public speaking course in school, and even though his eyes are a bit harried and even a little bit freaky as they bore through you by way of the television screen, something about him makes you want to go, "Look at me, Billy! Movie stuff

Ken and I are currently sitting in the den enjoying "The Chronicles of Narnia." Well made film, I must say. We can't believe, either of us, how closely the landscape mimics what we pictured in our minds as we read the novels so long ago. I also realized tonight that Disney is finally releasing "The Little Mermaid" in DVD form this October. I am not afraid to admit that it is my favorite of them all. That, plus, Ken informed me tonight (via one of his design magazine portals) that Disney is currently working on putting up a cable channel dedicated to nostalgic Disney at its finest. Who knows what that will entail, but anything that uses "nostalgic" in its description has my vote. And speaking of well-made films....anyone heard on when M. Night Shyamalan is due another flick out in the theaters? It's time, I'd say.
